How old are you?

downloadWhat stage of life would you consider yourself to be meandering through today?Do you have dreams and aspirations of greatness for your life?  Or has the time for hope and vision seemingly come and gone?

Have you accomplished what you purposed in your heart to go do?  Or are you still just trying to figure all that stuff out?

I’m asking you these questions because I want to say something to you.  But first, if you’re going to hear what I have to say, you need to have an idea of where you’re at in life.

Do you have it?  Have you completely assessed where you are in life?  Or are you just waiting for me to get to the point?

Okay, here it is:

“You are a chosen generation.” You, whatever age you are, whatever stage of life you’re in, You are chosen.

“You’re a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people.” In other words, you have been set apart for something special.  You have thoughts, gifts, and talents, that no one else has.  That makes you peculiar, that makes you stand out, that makes you an individual!

So as of right now, you’re an individual and you have been chosen, but for what and by who?

“That you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”.

Okay, if you have no idea what I’m quoting by now, then you’re probably feeling kind of weird about that last part, wondering where this is going.

Well, when you put all those quotations together, you get one verse from the Bible, just one verse.  It’s 1 Peter 2:9.  And I want to say one simple thing to anyone reading this.

This verse was written about you and for you

If you’re a believer, then it doesn’t matter what stage of life you’re in, this verse applies to you.  And if you’re not a believer in the Bible or in God, keep reading because there’s something here for you, too!

God’s word is eternal, and through the Holy Spirit He speaks to us, and somehow, someway, it hits us exactly where we’re at.

Try putting down your phone, and picking up your call from God!

If you’re a teenager or young adult, and you have no idea what you want from your life, try putting down your phone, and picking up your call from God.  In this verse and in 2 Timothy 1:9 the Bible says that you have a call, and that it’s not based on how good or how bad of a Christian you’re being or have been, but rather according to His purpose and grace in your life!  It was given to you and it’s up to you how you’ll respond to it.

If you’re in the middle of your life, living alone or with a family you have a great opportunity to acknowledge God in all your ways and watch Him direct your paths (Prov. 3:6). In whatever occupation you have, you can do it heartily, as to the Lord knowing that He rewards you (Col. 3:23-24)!

And if you’re past the prime of your life, wondering why things didn’t go the way you wanted them to, don’t be discouraged! God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) and His gifts and calling are without repentance (Rom. 11:29).  This call is still for you.  You can show forth your praises of Him.  You can still seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and you can still live a life holy and acceptable unto God (Rom. 12:1)!

God has still chosen you

Finally, for those unbelievers who have patiently waited, God has still chosen you. He wants you to be set apart, and He wants to call you out of darkness into the light.

What darkness, though?  If you look deep enough into your heart, I know you’ll find it.  It manifests itself differently in all of us, but it’s still darkness.

It’s those things that, when we think of them, leave us feeling guilty or ashamed about something that we did.  Or it’s those thoughts that leave us fearful of what others might think if they knew what was going on inside our heads!

God wants to pull you out of that darkness and call you into His light.  He wants to give your life purpose.

But most importantly, He wants you to want it, and He won’t do a thing until you want Him too.

So do you want the light?  Are you sick of living in guilt, shame, and fear?  Ask God to deliver you from darkness and He will.  Pray the prayer at the bottom, and know that God heard you and delivered you!

God is calling all of us, and He has chosen you.  Forget your past, forget your mistakes, and don’t worry about what your friends think.  This is between you and how God is speaking to you!

If you would like to believe in Jesus Christ, and respond to His call for your life please pray this prayer:  Dear Jesus, please forgive me of my sins.  I am empty inside and need you to fill me.  Come into my heart and save me.Rid me of my guilt, shame, and fear.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
